Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G heads for global release

Xiaomi previously introduced two new budget-friendly smartphones in China: the Redmi Note 17 and the Redmi Note 17 Pro. Although Xiaomi has yet to confirm the global availability of the Redmi Note 17 series, new regulatory certifications suggest that a global release is approaching.

The global lineup appears to include a new Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G model that Xiaomi has not yet launched in China. It has received NBTC certification in Thailand under model number "2609FRA74G". The "G" suffix in the model number typically denotes a global model, while the "2609" prefix points to a September 2026 launch window.

Moreover, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max has also received NCC certification in Taiwan. The certification lists four memory configurations: 8GB/256GB, 8GB/512GB, 12GB/256GB, and 12GB/512GB. It also confirms up to 2TB of expandable storage via a microSD card (Sandisk 128GB microSD card curr. $34.99 on Amazon).

Meanwhile, the standard Redmi Note 17 5G has also received NBTC certification in Thailand under model number "26081RA18G". According to Kacper Skrzypek on X, the global Redmi Note 17 5G is expected to feature a 7,700mAh battery, down from 8,000mAh in the Chinese model.

For context, the Chinese variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 5G features a 7-inch OLED display, a Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, a 50MP rear camera, and an 8MP front camera.
