Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy A57 5G and the Galaxy A37 5G mid-range smartphones. Both phones come with new 4 nm Exynos SoCs, a new Image Signal Processor (ISP) for better photos, and in the case of the Galaxy A57 5G, a smaller overall footprint.

Samsung has refreshed the mid-range Galaxy A series with the launch of the Galaxy A57 5G and the Galaxy A37 5G. Both phones come with One UI 8.5 and retain the design of their predecessors while packing some key improvements.

Samsung Galaxy A57 5G

Among the two new Galaxy A series mid-rangers, the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G has seen the most improvements. The main upgrades include the new octa-core Exynos 1680 4 nm SoC, IP68 protection, Wi-Fi 6E/BT 6.0, and a brighter display.

Moreover, the Galaxy A57 5G is now smaller, slimmer (6.9 mm), and lighter (179 g) than the Galaxy A56 while retaining the same 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display. Samsung has done this by trimming the display bezels. Aside from the thinner bezels, the 6.7-inch FHD+ 120 Hz screen now boasts a peak brightness of 1,900 nits.

Sadly, the camera system appears to be the same as the Galaxy A56, which was itself getting long in the tooth. So, we are looking at a familiar triple-camera system with a:

  • 50 MP main camera with OIS
  • 12 MP ultra-wide shooter
  • 5 MP macro camera
  • 12 MP selfie camera

Samsung claims that an enhanced Image Signal Processor (ISP) allows the Galaxy A57 to take better photos with more vivid colors and low noise. The phone also reportedly has improved portrait photos thanks to AI subject separation.

Finally, the Galaxy A57 5G retains the metallic sides, Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and back, and the fairly large 5,000 mAh battery of the Galaxy A56. The phone can be fast-charged with a 45 W charger that Samsung sells separately.

Galaxy A37 5G

The Galaxy A37 is pretty much the same phone as the Galaxy A36, but with a few changes. The biggest upgrades in the Galaxy A37 are the new 4 nm Exynos 1480 SoC with eight cores, the IP68 rating, and the enhanced ISP. Samsung is promising that the new ISP results in better low-light images with low noise as well as better sharpness and color.

Everything else, including the triple-camera system on the back, the front shooter, and the 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, has remained unchanged.

Thankfully, the Galaxy A37’s screen can also hit 1,900 nits of peak brightness like the Galaxy A57. Unlike the Galaxy A57, the Galaxy A37 retains the chunky bezels, size, and 196 g weight of its predecessor.

Finally, the Galaxy A37 5G shares the 45 W charging, 5,000 mAh battery, and One UI 8.5 with the Galaxy A57 5G. Based on Android 16 QPR2, One UI 8.5 brings a refreshed aesthetic as well as many AI features, including Circle to Search, to the new Galaxy A series devices.

Pricing and availability

The Galaxy A57 5G and the Galaxy A37 5G are set to go on sale starting April 10. Samsung has announced a pre-order bonus of double the storage. So, if you pre-order the Galaxy A57 or the Galaxy A37 before April 18, you will get double the storage at no extra cost.
