Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Apple’s first foldable iPhone to share Samsung's new display tech

A new leak seems to have surfaced on X regarding the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, detailing several key specifications ahead of its anticipated summer launch.
According to a known Samsung tipster, the device is expected to utilize a “dual-layer” Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) and a laser-drilled metal support plate for improved durability - that’s paired with an 8-inch internal display and a 6.5-inch cover screen, both supporting 120Hz refresh rates.
Samsung is reportedly developing the same crease-less display technology for Apple’s rumored iPhone Fold. While Oppo has already achieved a nearly invisible crease with the Oppo Find N6, Samsung and Apple are now racing for the 2nd spot in the crease race. Given Samsung’s established release cycle, the Galaxy Z Fold8 will most likely hit the market before Apple’s first foldable.
The Fold8 will reportedly be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. It is expected to ship with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and storage options up to 1TB. Camera specifications include a 200 MP main sensor, a 50 MP ultrawide, and a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Despite being thinner and lighter than the Fold7, it will allegedly house a larger 5,000 mAh battery with 45W charging - a first for Samsung’s large foldable.
The leak doesn’t include the price of the Fold8. Last year’s Galaxy Z Fold7 launched at 2,000 USD/2,100 EUR - a 100 USD/EUR price increase compared to the Fold6.
