Foldable iPhone design revealed by new leak

With Apple’s first foldable iPhone due to launch later in 2026, rumours about it have started picking up steam. The device has supposedly entered mass production, but it might miss its September launch window due to technical snags in the manufacturing process. Now, we get our first glimpse at what the putative iPhone Fold (or iPhone Ultra, if some Weibo sources are accurate).
The information comes via X users Sonny Dickson and Ahmad Ansari. As foretold by earlier leaks, the iPhone Fold isn’t a conventional foldable. While it employs a book-style design like the Galaxy Z Fold7, its two screens are far smaller—closer to the Galaxy Z Flip7. At the back, we can see two camera modules aligned next to each other. The camera bump is aesthetically identical to the iPhone 17 Pro- complete with a protruding bump and all.
Another interesting aspect of the design is the location of the volume buttons. They’re located rather inconveniently at the top edge instead of the more accessible sides. This likely stems from limited space on the sides, which are already occupied by the power and action buttons. Nevertheless, anyone on the market for a regular-sized screen might have to look at regular iPhones or other Android-based foldables.
We also get a look at the iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone 18 Pro. Both phones look largely similar to their last-gen counterparts, indicating Apple has stuck with its time-tested aesthetic for its high-end iPhones. Of course, these are only dummies, and Apple could very well make some last-minute changes.
