Leak: 35% smaller Dynamic Island of Apple iPhone 18 Pro revealed in photos

The Rumors about the design of the Apple iPhone 18 Pro have been contradictory for months. From a punch-hole in the top left corner to a design that is unchanged from the iPhone 17 Pro ($1,099 on Amazon) - rumors agree above all that Apple will not succeed in concealing the front camera and all sensors required for secure 3D face recognition via Face ID under the AMOLED panel.
It is currently most likely that Apple will be able to integrate at least a few of the sensors into the display, which could make the punch-hole of the iPhone 18 Pro smaller. On the Chinese social network Weibo, photos have now surfaced that confirm these rumors. The images show a screen protector with a significantly smaller punch-hole. The width of the Dynamic Island is to be reduced from 20.76 millimetres to 13.49 millimetres, which would make it a third smaller.
A smaller punch-hole not only conceals less content on the display, but also creates more space in the Dynamic Island. Apple uses the area around the punch-hole to display background activities such as navigation, a timer or the current music playback. The additional pixels allow these mini-widgets to display more information than before. This smaller Dynamic Island will be reserved for the Pro models, while the cheaper iPhone 18 will stick with the wider display hole and will not be available until in spring 2027, half a year after the iPhone 18 Pro (Max) and the iPhone Fold are expected to launch.
