After years of suspense, the first unboxing video of the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 has finally leaked on YouTube, offering a detailed look at what content creators can expect from the Osmo Pocket 3’s successor.
While rumors originally pointed to an April 20 release, the video suggests the Pocket 4 might launch as early as April 16 - at least in China (US launch now rumored to take place in "late April"). Either way, we are weeks away from finding out.
New DJI Osmo Pocket 4 looks a lot like an “Osmo Pocket 3(S)”; adds extra buttons, new protective case, detachable fill light

At first glance, the unboxing video proves what we already anticipated - DJI is going for a functional upgrade rather than a big redesign. The Osmo Pocket 4 retains the compact look of the Osmo Pocket 3, with several iterative hardware upgrades focusing on practicality.
- New physical controls: The Osmo Pocket 4 now has two additional buttons, which the Pocket 3 doesn’t have - the buttons are likely dedicated to centering the gimbal and zooming - both the new Pocket 4 and Pocket 3 (after an update) now have 2x in-sensor zoom
- Modular fill light: A new magnetic fill light attaches directly to the back of the Pocket 4’s head - a much-requested feature for low-light vlogging (it remains to be seen if this one is backward compatible with the Pocket 3)
- Brand new case: The Osmo Pocket 4’s case (if you could call it that) has been redesigned to become smaller than the Pocket 3’s - of course, size doesn’t matter, so let’s hope the smaller protector is less prone to slipping off
- Beyond the box: The Osmo Pocket 4 is also expected to have 107GB of built-in storage, as well as “14 stops of dynamic range” for better light control
Osmo Pocket 4 to ship with a DJI Mic 3 in the box: Is the Creator Combo gone?
Perhaps the most intriguing part of the leaked Osmo Pocket 4 unboxing video might be the audio situation, which many creators find to be just as important as the video aspect.
According to the video, DJI is bundling the DJI Mic 3 with the regular retail unit of the Pocket 4. At least that’s what it looks like, since the packaging we see doesn’t explicitly carry the familiar "Creator Combo" branding.
Could DJI be moving toward a single, premium retail version that includes the DJI Mic 3 by default? It won’t be a huge surprise considering the Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo is so popular, it’s frequently sold out.
DJI’s new Osmo Pocket 4 is no longer the only choice in the gimbal camera space
While the leaked unboxing video clearly shows the “Osmo Pocket 4”, rumors of a "Pro" variant featuring dual cameras continue to circulate. Speaking of dual cameras, DJI is no longer alone in the gimbal camera race this year, thanks to the Insta360 “Luna”, which is now confirmed to feature dual cameras and even more physical controls.
With a potential launch just 1-2 weeks away, the Osmo Pocket 4 looks to be an evolution of a proven formula, which is going to attract many amateur and pro creators - just like the Pocket 3 did.
