The upcoming DJI Osmo Pocket 4 is set to challenge professional mirrorless rigs with a rumored 4K/240 fps slow-motion mode. By doubling the frame rate of its predecessor, this pocketable gimbal can stretch a single second of action into 10 seconds of cinematic 4K footage - all while utilizing a 1-inch stacked sensor that rivals the dynamic range of "real cameras".

After the first official Osmo Pocket 4 launch teaser video, DJI wants to keep the hype train going with a fresh short clip, hinting at a possible leap in the Pocket 4’s slow-motion capabilities. While the current Osmo Pocket 3 can already do 4K/120 fps, the Osmo Pocket 4 will most likely cross into a new, more professional territory.

The slow-mo footage in DJI’s teaser clip, captioned "The World in my Pocket," aligns with long-standing rumors of a 4K/240 fps video mode. This is exactly 2x slower and smoother than the Pocket 3’s limit, and would allow creators to stretch a second of real-time footage into about 10 seconds of slow-mo footage (at least if your main footage is 24fps).

The DJI Osmo Pocket 4’s alleged 240fps slow-motion mode might put many Sony, Canon, Panasonic cameras to shame

It’s worth mentioning that retail packaging leaks have fueled speculation of 6K recording coming to the Osmo Pocket 4 (something DJI is yet to tease), which might just put DJI’s tiny gimbal camera into a league of its own.

For reference, 4K/120fps is what you get from the rear camera of the iPhone 17 Pro some might have in their pocket. On the other hand, 240fps in 4K/6K is absent from majority of the “real” cameras sold by the likes of Sony, Canon, and Panasonic - some of which cost upwards of $3,000.

Beyond the teased slow-mo upgrade, the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 is expected to feature an upgraded 1-inch stacked CMOS sensor, delivering up to 14 stops of dynamic range, internal storage, and more.

With the April 16 launch just days away, DJI will most definitely keep the teasers coming.
