Big Osmo Pocket 4 secret leaks before April 16 launch; Sony and Canon are sweating

Following a series of official teasers and retail packaging leaks, the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 is shaping up to be a generational leap for fans of compact vlogging camera cinematography. With the April 16 launch just days away, previous reports highlighted a potential move toward 6K resolution and 240fps slow-motion capabilities.
Now, the mystery surrounding the DJI Osmo Pocket 4’s resolution and frame rates appears to have been solved. While a recent slow-motion clip shared by DJI on X hinted at enhanced slow-mo, a new leaked image of the Osmo Pocket 4’s retail packaging has surfaced, clearly showing the one spec videographers have been looking forward to: 4K/240fps.
This effectively cements the Pocket 4’s status as a slow-motion powerhouse ahead of its debut, as the jump to 240fps at 4K resolution is a bigger milestone than you might’ve thought.
DJI Osmo Pocket 4 is going to be a “4K/240fps” slow-motion powerhouse for amateur and pro videographers

For comparison, the current Osmo Pocket 3 tops out at 4K/120fps. And while high-end phones like the iPhone 17 Pro offer 4K/120fps, no affordable, widely available cameras currently support true 4K/240fps slow-motion; those that do carry price tags of up to $10,000 because they are used in movie productions.
All in all, by packing this level of performance into a gimbal camera that fits in your pocket (no pun intended), DJI is putting many traditional camera setups to shame.
That said, it’s worth pointing out that the relatively small 1-inch-type sensor in the Osmo Pocket 4 still won’t be a match for a full-frame camera sensor - Sony and Canon cameras can easily do 240fps in 1080p. In other words, there are always going to be some trade-offs to take into account when choosing a new camera. However, DJI’s ability to break new ground with a camera that’s rumored to start at $500 should be admired.
