DJI Osmo Pocket 4: Ahead of launch, teaser hints at cinema-tier iPhone 17 Pro feature

Following the massive success of the Osmo Pocket 3, DJI has officially teased the arrival of its successor, the Osmo Pocket 4. A launch event is now confirmed for April 16, and social media users are already examining the teaser footage for clues about what the Pocket 4 will bring to the table.
Joining the “educated guessing” game, we also noticed an intriguing hint that comes from the same teaser video - but from DJI Japan, which says: "A world that expands." This tagline suggests two possibilities.
First, we could see a wider native focal length than the current 20mm, potentially eliminating the need for the magnetic wide-angle adapter. Second, and perhaps more importantly, the tagline could be hinting at "Open Gate" support.
“Open Gate” allows the camera to utilize the full 4:3 or 3:2 sensor area rather than just a 16:9 crop. For creators, this is a game-changer as it provides the vertical "headroom" needed to crop 9:16 TikToks or Reels from horizontal footage without losing quality. The potential upgrade would be signaling a shift for DJI toward pro-grade flexibility.
With the iPhone 17 Pro series recently adding Open Gate support (via the BlackMagic camera app), it’s clear that both the phone and pocket camera industries are pivoting towards professional-grade features, which happen to cater to influencers too.
Stay tuned for more DJI Osmo Pocket 4 news before the April 16 launch!
