A closer look at Osmo Pocket 4’s hot new rival: DJI to face serious competition

The vlogging gimbal camera market is heating up as new details about the alleged Insta360 “Luna” keep popping up. And if you thought Insta360 was going to make a 1:1 Osmo Pocket copy, you might be in for a surprise.
The first true challenger to the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 (and the upcoming DJI Osmo Pocket 4) was just confirmed to feature a dual-camera setup, likely offering 3x optical zoom that goes beyond DJI’s current 2x in-sensor zoom solution on the Osmo Pocket 3.
Now, a brand new Insta360 “Luna” leak seems to show us the camera in the flesh, revealing a familiar form factor to that of the Osmo Pocket but with several standout design elements worth noting.
Unlike the Osmo Pocket 3, it seems like Insta360 might’ve placed the USB-C port on the bottom of the camera, which raises questions about tripod mounting. Perhaps Insta360 will bundle an adapter to help with that.
Insta360 Luna has more physical controls than the Osmo Pocket 3 and Osmo Pocket 4

However, the “stars of the show” seem to be the physical controls as we see on the handle, including a joystick, a dedicated zoom lever, and a record button.
Two additional buttons are visible immediately next to the rotating screen. Our best guess is that they might be used to toggle additional settings, such as ISO, locking the gimbal position, or toggling audio levels. Unless Insta360 has better ideas.
With DJI expected to counter with the Osmo Pocket 4 (allegedly launching April 20), the Luna’s rumored modular potential and advanced controls suggest Insta360’s Osmo rival might have a distinct identity and unique selling points after all.
