New GoPro Hero 14 Black reveals itself with major camera upgrades teased

Over eighteen months have passed since GoPro released a new Hero action camera. Launched alongside the GoPro Hero (curr. $199 on Amazon), the Hero 13 Black featured much of the same hardware as its predecessor. Based on a recent video posted by Ryan Mitchell, GoPro has already started shipping the Hero 14 Black to some influencers.
While Mitchell does not refer to the camera by its retail name, he confirms that the footage below is of an unreleased GoPro camera. Thus, we suspect that the camera is legitimate and not faked or edited in any way. Embedded below, the video showcases that GoPro's next Hero action camera can shoot in 8K/30 FPS with 4:3, 9:16 or 16:9 aspect ratios.
Additionally, the next GoPro Hero is noticeably bigger than its predecessor, with a camera housing that dominates its front. A brief close-up indicates that GoPro has complemented this new camera with an ambient light sensor and two front-facing microphones too, albeit with a display roughly the same size as the one found on the Hero 13 Black. Mitchell adds that GoPro will be releasing its new action camera soon.
For context, GoPro confirmed in late March that it would be attending the National Association of Broadcasters Show (NAB Show 2026) between April 18 and April 22 with a 'new generation of GoPro'. Also, the company added that this new generation would be its first hardware that leverages its new GP3 imaging processor. Whether GoPro actually releases the Hero 14 Black later this month remains unclear at this point.
