Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide aims to dominate the foldable market with a record-breaking slim, lightweight design, says a top tipster. Samsung is setting the stage for a showdown against Apple’s new foldable iPhone Ultra.

Samsung is preparing to challenge the expected arrival of the foldable iPhone Ultra with a new, ultra-slim design with its own Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide.

A renowned tipster just hinted that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will feel "invincibly" thinner and lighter than market competitors, potentially setting an "unparalleled" benchmark for pocketability in the large foldable category.

While the current Galaxy Z Fold 7 measures 8.9mm folded (4.2mm unfolded) and weighs 215g, early leaks suggest the taller Galaxy Z Fold 8 will maintain a similar 4.1mm unfolded thickness at a lighter 210g.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is rumored to shrink the folded profile further to 9.8mm, which is notably thinner than competing wide foldables like the Huawei Pura X Max (11.2mm).

Samsung’s foldable design shift is believed to be influenced by the upcoming foldable iPhone, which will have similar dimensions to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide but might not be as thin. By prioritizing extreme weight reduction and a near-square 4:3 inner display, the South Korean giant aims to offer a "tablet-like" experience that remains super-portable.
