Galaxy Z Fold 8 could usher new era of foldables, as leaker glorifies weight and crease

If the rumored dates for the Galaxy Unpacked event are accurate, we are less than a month away from Samsung’s new foldables. The most exciting of the trio is going to be the wider Galaxy Z Fold 8. Apparently, samples of the phone have already started circulating, and first impressions are positive, especially in the weight and crease department.
The information comes from credible leaker Lanzuk over on the Naver blog. They cite people who have got their hands on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and state that the phone feels very light. While the actual weight of the phone is unclear at this point, previous leaks have hinted at a 201-gram foldable. That’s already lighter than the 215-gram Galaxy Z Fold 7 (buy on Amazon), but as per the leaker, the wider Fold 8 feels significantly lighter.
That’s likely due to a more even weight distribution given the wider form factor. The leaker calls the weight "unbelievable" and the primary selling point of the phone.
More interestingly, when talking about the wider foldable, the leaker mentions that the crease is better than the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, the standard-sized book-style foldable. Apparently, the use of thicker UTG (Ultra-thin Glass) has made the crease feel minimal, almost like a non-folding bar phone. This is thanks to the developments Samsung has made in the folding display department in order to meet Apple’s high standards.
Samsung is expected to unveil the new generation of foldables next month, around July 22. The company has not shared a date yet, but the event will likely take place in London.
