South Korea's Splinter Cell and MGS hybrid appears to be going dark

Mudang: Two Hearts generated significant attention following its reveal thanks to its combination of stealth gameplay, military-themed action, and surprisingly polished visuals. The trailer showcased fluid gunplay, detailed environments, and cinematic presentation that drew immediate comparisons to Ubisoft's classic espionage series. With a planned 2026 launch window, the title quickly emerged as one of the more promising new entries in a genre that has seen relatively few high-profile releases in recent years. The game appeared far enough in development to warrant multiple gameplay showcases on YouTube showcasing the game's visual, audio, combat and animation work.
YouTube channels like Voyagers Revenge showcased multiple long and stylish gameplay videos on their channel, pointing towards a game that was past the shovel-ware state of some other promising looking yet ill-fated titles. (video source : Voyagers Revenge)
The excitement surrounding the game contrasted sharply with EVRStudio's reported financial situation. South Korean media had previously claimed that the developer was struggling financially and reducing staff numbers as investment interest in metaverse-related ventures faded. Before moving into game development, EVRStudio had focused on virtual reality projects and commercial metaverse experiences, businesses that reportedly failed to provide long-term stability as market conditions shifted. Reports found on the game's official reddit page show documentation indicating that developer EVRStudio has entered bankruptcy proceedings, casting serious doubt over the future of the project and ending hopes that it could become a spiritual successor to Splinter Cell. According to posts on the Mudang_Two_Hearts reddit community, the developer's official Discord is deleted, leading to concerns that the game's Xbox Marketplace and Steam pages will follow suit soon. Barring the appearance of an angel investor, it appears that this is the end of all hope for South Korea's Splinter Cell and MGS hybrid.
