Far Cry 7 may be taking a new direction while Splinter Cell sticks to its guns

Despite the turmoil at Ubisoft, development on the next Far Cry and Splinter Cell games seems to be continuing. New information sheds light on the scope of the two games, and while the latter is said to be a remake, the former seems to be taking a new direction.
The information comes from Ubisoft leaker Rogue | Tx on X, who shared updates on Far Cry 7, as well as the Splinter Cell Remake. Starting with Far Cry 7, Ubisoft is incorporating an extraction shooter in the game, as suggested by Rogue’s “High-stakes PvEVP scavenge and extract survival loop” claim. Furthermore, the leaker states there will be a separate campaign as well, but it is unclear how the PvP elements will be incorporated.
Far Cry has been all about open-world action-adventure with a strong focus on storyline. This time around, Ubisoft wants to shake things up and introduce new mechanics, hoping to revive the franchise.
With the Splinter Cell Remake, it looks like Ubisoft is sticking to its guns. It will run on the Snowdrop engine and feature a linear storyline with more non-lethal choices, dynamic lighting, destructible environments, and gear like sticky cameras, gas grenades, and more. While there is no official timeline, Rogue mentions it will release somewhere between Q2 and Q4 of next year. However, considering what’s been happening at Ubisoft studios across the globe, it won’t be surprising if either of these projects ends up being cancelled.
