Xiaomi reveals new affordable gaming phone with performance-focused specs

Xiaomi has officially shared some details of the Redmi K90 Ultra ahead of its imminent Chinese launch. For those who missed it, this gaming phone is set to be available in China on June 30, 2026.
Per the new details shared, Xiaomi is basically positioning the K90 Ultra as an affordable gaming phone. It's confirmed to pack the Snapdragon 8 Elite, and while it's a last-gen flagship SoC, it's still capable enough to smoothly handle emulation and native Android games. Moreover, this last-gen SoC will keep the phone in the affordable range compared to the current flagships.
This Redmi phone pairs the performance-focused SoC with an active cooling fan, which is said to be the same one that's found on the K90 Max (12/256GB curr. $480.32 on TradingShenzhen). Xiaomi touts that it's 6% larger than the one the competitors implement, and it's said to operate at low noise levels, at around 32dB.
Another highlight of this phone is the D2 dedicated graphics chip. This chipset, according to Xiaomi, will allow the K90 Ultra to deliver an enhanced gaming experience. There are optimizations for network, touch, and audio as well.
While the company didn't share details about the screen, it notes that the gaming phone can run MOBA games at 144FPS, hinting that it features a 144Hz screen. As for the design, Xiaomi has showcased the phone in promotional pictures, and it looks identical to the K90 Max.
The notable difference from the shared pictures is the slightly different vent holes on the back. It's possible that the other specs of the Redmi K90 Ultra will be similar as well, and Xiaomi will likely share more details before the June 30 Chinese launch.
