Vivo has now released a new ultra-premium with a suite of flagship cameras. Also equipped with up to 16 GB of RAM, the Vivo X Fold6 also contains a 7,000 mAh battery and 5,000-nit displays. Vivo has confirmed that the foldable will receive a global launch, too.

Vivo has joined Honor, Oppo and Motorola in releasing a new book-style foldable. As expected, the company has replaced the X Fold5 we reviewed last year with the X Fold6, rather than a Pro-branded alternative like the X Fold3 Pro before it. Also, the X Fold6 is one of the only book-style foldables to eschew Qualcomm Snapdragon silicon, with the other being the Pixel 10 Pro Fold (curr. $1,384 on Amazon).

Specifically, Vivo equips the X Fold6 with an upgraded version of the Dimensity 9500. At this stage, it is unclear what exact changes have been made, with Vivo only mentioning an improved NPU. Nonetheless, our benchmarks indicate this chipset will see the X Fold6 easily outperforming the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Additionally, Vivo's new foldable should match the Magic V6 and Find N6 while outperforming the Razr Fold and Galaxy Z Fold7, too.

On top of that, Vivo includes a 7,000 mAh battery with support for 40 W wireless and 80 W wired charging, compared to the mere 4,400 mAh battery inside the Galaxy Z Fold7. Moreover, the X Fold6 finds itself with the following camera hardware:

  • 200 MP primary, f/1.68, 1/1.4-inch, Samsung ISOCELL HPB, Zeiss T* coated lens
  • 50 MP ultra-wide-angle, f/2.05, 1/2.76-inch, Samsung ISOCELL JN1, 16 mm equivalent focal length, Zeiss T* coated lens
  • 50 MP telephoto, f/2.57, 1/1.95-inch, 70 mm equivalent focal length, 3x optical zoom, Sony LYT-602, Zeiss T* coated lens
  • 20 MP selfie cameras, f/2.4, 1/3.6-inch optical format, 16 mm equivalent focal length

The X Fold6 supports Vivo's Telephoto Extender Gen 2 as well. Consequently, the foldable is said to cover up to a 200 mm equivalent focal length. Attaching the extender adds 153 g to the X Fold6's 228 g or 235 g official weight, though. For reference, Vivo claims that the X Fold6 is 9.4 mm thick, or 9.9 mm thick for its blue variant with an added glass back.

The Vivo X Fold6 is IP59 certified.

Weight aside, the X Fold6 also contains a 6.51-inch AMOLED cover display set within a 157.16 x 74.26 mm housing. Capable of up to 5,000 nits peak brightness, the BOE-sourced panel also outputs at 2,528 x 1,120 pixels with a 424 PPI and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, opening the X Fold6 reveals an 8.02-inch foldable display with an identical pixel density, peak brightness and refresh rate.

The Vivo X Fold6 starts at CNY 7,999 (~$1,175) in China with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Alternatively, the foldable rises by CNY 1,000 increments to 10,999 (~$1,616) with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Vivo sells a limited edition Black Gold variant for CNY 11,299 (~$1,660) too, with the same peak memory capacity.

Furthermore, one can purchase Vivo's Telephoto Extender accessory for CNY 999 (~$147) or as part of the 'Professional Imaging Suite' pack starting at CNY 11,999 (~$1,764). Vivo has confirmed that the X Fold6 will receive a global release later this year. Exact details remain unknown for now, though.
