Reviews for the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold

While I'm impressed with the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold's overall offering, as its nips and tucks bring marginal gains over its predecessor, the key folding phone competitors have really put their foot on the gas during this past year. As a result, a once 5-star potential product can't, in my view, compete with the current best in the business – Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7. Some will disagree, mind, as the Pixel's wider front display will seal the deal for some buyers – as the Samsung's is so much narrower that it's a very different experience. Google's foldable journey has been impressive: the original Fold really didn't hit the mark, while the second-gen model was a total reinvention that blew everyone away. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold hits plenty of high notes, but for its future to be secured it's going to need to slim down further and refine the screen bezel yet more. Then Google will be back to top once more.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold takes durability on foldable phones to the next level with an IP68 rating against dust and water and a new gearless hinge. It also packs super bright displays, a faster Tensor G5 chip and impressive AI features like Magic Cue and Ask Photos. But while it's $200 less than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, it's not nearly as sleek.

While I definitely wanted something a bit more from Google’s latest series of Pixel smartphones, perhaps these small refinements are all thats needed for the Pixel 10 Pro series to be the best flagships on the market. We’ll let you know before the handsets official release. Pixel 10 Pro starts at $1,349, and Pixel 10 Pro XL, now with 256 GB base storage, starts at $1,629.7 The phones are available in Obsidian, Moonstone, Porcelain, and Jade. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold starts at $2,399. They’re available in Moonstone and Jade. The Pixel 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL come out on August 28 and those interested in the Pixel 10 Pro Fold have to wait until October 9.

For as much as I praised the Pixel 9 Pro Fold last year (I gave it a 5/5), I was a bit worried about the Pixel 10 Pro Fold leading up to today’s launch. You see, 12 months ago, Google created the ideal sizing for a foldable phone in the US when Samsung’s fold screens were too narrow. But this year, the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s bigger screens fixed Samsung’s biggest issue, and the phone got so much thinner. Google remains mostly the same. But there are other perks to talk about with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. It boasts a larger battery capacity, MagSafe-like Pixelsnap wireless charging, and numerous AI-enhanced features. Camera Coach helps you become a better photographer, Magic Cue pulls up important info across apps, and 100x AI Pro Res Zoom cleans up distant photos very nicely.

Google's latest foldable has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, packs a bigger battery, and features new AI capabilities. It keeps that $1,799 price tag.

Pixel 10 is finally here - it's more flagship, but mostly still very Pixel.

Mark goes hands-on with the new Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and it beats the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 in a few key ways. It's the first foldable phone with IP68 water and dust resistance. You also get a bigger battery, bigger zoom, and it's AI features are very impressive, including Magic Cue. Best of all, Google's foldable is $200 cheaper. But the new Pixel Fold is also thicker and heavier than the Z Fold 7. We got to take a close-up look for Made By Google 2025 ahead of our full review, so here's how it stacks up.

While not a reinvention, the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold looks like a solid upgrade that offers potentially better performance, improved durability, Qi 2 charging, and Pixelsnap – Google's answer to Apple's MagSafe. However, without major camera upgrades or more visible design improvements, it looks like it's treading water compared to the stunningly thin and light Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, even if it handily beats its Samsung rival on affordability.
