The Google Pixel 10 has only been shipping since August 28. Several days later, a number of users started complaining about display problems, including on Reddit and Android Authority. As the photos in the Reddit post embedded below show, affected Pixel 10 devices only display colored stripes, which can be red, green or blue, depending on the device.
This renders the affected smartphones virtually unusable, at least temporarily. In some cases, the problem usually disappears after a few minutes whenever the smartphone is locked and unlocked. The cause of this problem is not yet known. Hardware defects in the display, motherboard or graphics chip of the affected smartphones are conceivable, but a software error, such as a faulty graphics driver, cannot be ruled out. Google is yet to comment on the issue.
Those affected should exchange their Pixel 10 as a precaution. If this isn't possible at the respective retailer, it is recommended to contact Google to arrange a repair or replacement as soon as possible before the problem potentially worsens or the waiting time for a new smartphone increases if the defect occurs among more and more users. Whether Google can fix the problem with a software update or whether a repair program for the Pixel 10 will be launched remains to be seen.
