Volvo EM90: Fully electric premium MPV from Scandinavia
Volvo has just unveiled the EM90, a fully electric premium MPV that, according to the company, is set to revolutionize the MPV segment. Based on Geely's Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), the EM90 offers cutting-edge technology and Scandinavian design elements. With a length of 5.21 meters, a wheelbase of 3.21 meters and a curb weight of 2,763 kg, the EM90 is a spacious vehicle that, according to Electrive, is designed for both families and business travelers.
Scandinavian elegance meets modern technology
The design of the EM90 embodies the simple elegance of Scandinavian design. The clean lines, generous glass area, and minimalist interior layout create an atmosphere of calm and luxury. The interior is designed to offer the comfort of a "Swedish living room on wheels", as Volvo advertises.
Engine and performance: Powerful and efficient
The EM90, as Volvo further states, is powered by a 200 kW electric motor that delivers 272 hp. This power enables the EM90 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. The 116 kWh battery enables a range of up to 739 km (459 miles) according to the CLTC cycle. Thanks to 800-volt technology, the EM90 can be charged with up to 360 kW, enabling short charging times.
Interior: Luxury and flexibility
The interior of the EM90 is designed for comfort and flexibility. The second row offers two electrically adjustable individual seats with massage and climate functions that can be converted into lounge chairs. The third row also offers generous space. With a trunk volume of 535 liters and up to 2,376 liters with the seats folded down, the EM90 offers ample storage space for luggage and equipment.

Volvo is known for its safety standards, and the EM90 is no exception. According to CarNewsChina, the Volvo EM90 starts at CNY 818,000 in China, which currently (as of September 3, 2025) corresponds to approximately $114,532. This puts the EM90 in line with other premium electric vehicles in terms of price. Availability in Europe, the USA, or other markets has not yet been officially announced, so pricing information outside of China is not yet available.
