Tesla prototypes mystery 3-row SUV with edgy Cybertruck stainless steel design

Tesla may be working on a third vehicle in its Cyber series, this time a big blocky SUV with the third row of seats seemingly placed where the Cybertruck now sits.

The Cyber SUV prototype can be seen in the promo video Tesla released to tout its Master Plan 4 that is heavy on "sustainable abundance" lingo, but lighter on actual facts and details than even Grok could've mastered from a vague question about Tesla's future.

According to Elon Musk, 80% of Tesla's revenue in the future will be coming from its Optimus humanoid robot business that does not exist yet. Lofty goals aside, the car business is still Tesla's bread and butter, and it is seemingly toying around with prototype concepts for future Tesla vehicles.

Their mockups can be seen lined up on a shelf in Tesla's design studio, behind a full-scale Cybercab prototype being crafted out of clay. One of those Cybertruck toy cars, in particular, looks like a 3-row Tesla SUV concept styled after its edgy stainless steel exterior.

To create the big, blocky 3-row Cyber SUV, Tesla has seemingly resorted to the existing Cybertruck electric pickup design, but with the cabin extended to include a third bench of seats covering the place where the truck bed now resides.

Tesla fans have been clamoring for a true 3-row SUV, and a Cybertruck with extended cabin would fit the bill better than the Model Y L if Tesla decides to turn the pickup into an SUV. After all, the Cybertruck is 18.6 feet (5,683 mm) long, in line with the average full-size 3-row SUV, so its chassis would be perfect for the task.

As if to confirm the prototype, Tesla's chief designer recently said that he is "super excited" about a number of future designs that Tesla is working on in its studio, and added that those will be revealed "soon."
