The Volkswagen ID.2X has been teased in images on social media. The post indicates that this new electric vehicle will be officially unveiled at an event in the near future. The crossover EV builds on the original ID.2 concept, and is expected to be a smaller and more affordable addition to the brand’s electric lineup.

Volkswagen is about to unveil its next EV, the ID.2X. Described as a “near-production concept car”, it appears to be a more affordable compact SUV. Volkswagen’s new EV builds on the ID.2all concept, a four-door hatchback which was first seen in 2023.

In a recent post on Instagram (below), Volkswagen shared sketches of the Volkswagen ID.2X, also referred to as the ID 2X. These pictures suggest that the ID.2X will be an electric alternative to the Volkswagen T-Cross. The chunky model has sleek lines, and front and rear light bars with the latter including the Volkswagen logo.

The ID.2X is expected to be based on a shorter version of the brand’s MEB platform, making it smaller than the ID.4. Reports indicate that it will have a single 223 bhp motor at the front, with customers offered a choice of 38 kWh and 56 kWh batteries for up to 280 miles (~450 km) range.

The Volkswagen ID.2X will be officially unveiled at an event on September 7th. That is a couple of days ahead of the IAA Mobility Show in Munich. As for its cost, a starting price of under €25,000 (~$29,000) was touted when the ID.2 concept was first shown.
