OnePlus Pad 3: Why we reviewed the same tablet three times

The OnePlus Pad 3, OnePlus Pad 2 Pro and Oppo Pad 4 Pro are very similar. Nevertheless, we reviewed each device to highlight the differences.
The OnePlus Pad 3, OnePlus Pad 2 Pro and Oppo Pad 4 Pro are very similar. Nevertheless, we reviewed each device to highlight the differences.
We could have actually saved ourselves the trouble of reviewing the OnePlus Pad 3, as we had actually already tested the tablet twice before in our lab. Why that happened, and why the review was still important...

When we review a device, we usually only do it once. After all, there are a lot of smartphones and tablets on the market, and we want to have time for as many of them as possible.

Unlike laptops, most mobile devices are not semi-modular, so a different graphics card or processor can necessitate a new review.

The OnePlus Pad 3 is an exception

We did, however, review three variants of the OnePlus Pad 3. It first appeared on the Chinese market as the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro. And this tablet, in turn, is actually a 1:1 copy of the Oppo Pad 4 Pro. Why did we go to all the trouble?

Well, first of all, it's important to us to have the devices in our comprehensive database. If someone searches for them and doesn't know that the devices are related, they will still be able to access one of our in-depth reviews.

In addition, we received the Chinese variants through our shop partner TradingShenzhen much earlier, when the international version in the form of the OnePlus Pad 3 wasn't even available yet. We simply wanted to provide you with insights into this fantastic tablet as soon as possible.

Small but important differences

The OnePlus Pad 3 in particular differs significantly from the other two tablets: While they look similar and their features are also quite similar, Google services are enabled on the OnePlus Pad 3 ex works. Updates until 2031 and a two-year warranty on the tablet are also guaranteed.

In regard to the WiFi, the less-used and potentially faster 6 GHz range is used, which is not enabled on the Chinese models. In our tests, this did not result in any speed advantages, but it can certainly make a difference in real world environments.

Barely any difference in price

For customers outside of China, we strongly recommend the OnePlus Pad 3. It offers the aforementioned advantages in terms of updates and warranty. Not to mention that it's priced similarly to the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro and Oppo Pad 4 Pro. Those who want to learn more about the OnePlus Pad 3 are advised to take a look at our detailed review.
