So far, OnePlus has offered three generations of its high-end Pad lineup, including the latest OnePlus Pad 3. The budget Pad Go series, however, received little attention since its original debut in late 2023.
OnePlus did offer a Pad Lite in the interim as a stop gap, but we now get to see a proper upgrade with the Pad Go 2.
OnePlus will unveil the Pad Go 2 alongside the OnePlus 15R today, but here's a quick look and some first impressions of the company's latest budget Android tablet offering.
Update 12/17:
The OnePlus Pad Go 2 will start from ₹26,999 ($399.99/€349) for the 8 GB + 128 GB variant while the 8 GB + 256 GB variant can be had for ₹29,999 (~$333.5). The 5G 8 GB + 256 GB SKU will retail for ₹32,999 (~$367/€449).

What's inside the box?
Inside the box, we get the OnePlus Pad Go 2, a 45 W SuperVOOC charger, USB Type-A to Type-C cable, a SIM ejector tool, and the paperwork.
Optionally, you can also accessorize the Pad Go 2 with a folio case and the Pad Go 2 Stylo. Unlike the Pad 3's Stylo, the Pad Go 2 Stylo is not a magnetic attachment and needs to be charged separately via USB Type-C.
First impressions of the OnePlus Pad Go 2
The Pad Go 2 is the first OnePlus tablet to be offered in two color options: Shadow Black (our unit) and Lavender Drift. Our Shadow Black variant looks sleek and unassuming, but it is a fingerprint magnet.
There is a single rear camera, now regressed to a corner of the tablet unlike the centrally placed shooter we saw with the original Pad and the Pad Go.
While the original Pad Go had to make do with a low-end MediaTek Helio G99 SoC, the new Pad Go 2 will offer a much powerful Dimensity 7300-Ultra chipset. This enables the Pad Go 2 to offer 5G and Wi-Fi 6 support while the Pad Go and the Pad Lite were limited to 4G LTE and Wi-Fi 5.
However, only the Shadow Black variant of the Pad Go 2 will allow using a 5G SIM card. The non-5G variant will make use of the paired phone's 5G connection similar to previous OnePlus tablets.
The Pad Go 2 also brings in upgrades to the display. We now get to see a 12.1-inch 7:5 2.8K IPS LCD panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The refresh rate is still lower than the Pad 3's 144 Hz panel, but the good news is that the Pad Go 2 now supports up to 900 nits HBM, 98% DCI-P3 coverage, and Dolby Vision HDR.
At first glance, the display subjectively looks to be a significant uptick from the 90 Hz SDR displays of the Pad Go and the Pad Lite.
While the Dimensity 7300 is not a flagship chipset, navigating OxygenOS 16 on the Pad Go 2 is already a night and day difference from the original Pad, which was honestly quite sluggish even while opening system menus.
The Pad Go 2 also enables OxygenOS 16's Open Canvas feature that allows for enhanced split-screen multitasking, similar to what we've seen with the Pad 3 and the OnePlus Open.
The efficiency of the Dimensity 7300 combined with the massive 10,050 mAh battery should lend itself to some good run times.
We will look into aspects such as display characteristics, SoC performance, thermals, and battery life in our upcoming full review of the Pad Go 2, so stay tuned.
