OnePlus occasionally released 'Pro' models in its flagship number series up until the OnePlus 10 Pro, which launched in 2022. After that, the company did not release a 'Pro' model in the number series. However, this may change, as a new rumor suggests the company could revise its strategy for the next-gen flagship.
The rumor comes from X user @OnePlusClub. According to the source, OnePlus may launch a 'Pro' or 'Ultra' model in the OnePlus 16 lineup. The source suggests the phone may launch as an 'all-rounder' device, which would mark a shift back from the OnePlus 15's performance-centric approach.
For reference, the OnePlus 15 brings a major performance boost over its predecessor but includes notable downgrades in the camera hardware. The company also launched the OnePlus 15 at a lower price than the OnePlus 13 in China.
Furthermore, the source suggests that the OnePlus 16 Pro (or 16 Ultra) will launch in Q4 2026. For now, leaks regarding the standard OnePlus 16 indicate that it may feature a display with a refresh rate of at least 200Hz. Moreover, a recent leak suggested that the OnePlus 16 may adopt a 200MP camera sensor.
That said, there is currently no official confirmation regarding the OnePlus 16 series, so the above information should be treated with caution. In related news, iQoo has recently confirmed that it will launch the iQoo 15 Ultra.
