New tests have now showcased one potential stand-out quality of the Tensor G5 on Google's Pixel 10 Pro XL. The flagship phone was put through 3DMark's brutal WildLife Extreme Stress Test, showing off its rather impressive stability in the process.

The Google Pixel 10 series has received deserved criticism for the lackluster performance of its Tensor G5 chipset. While the Google SoC fails to deliver great peak performance, tests now show that it does quite well with what it has, with benchmarks indicating class-leading stability.

As shared, the Pixel 10 Pro XL recorded an incredibly impressive 95.1% on 3DMark's WildLife Extreme test. This test puts the device through twenty loops of the benchmark run, with the Pixel phone still delivering 95.1% of its max performance at its worst.

This test is admittedly influenced by factors like ambient temperatures but the Pixel 10 Pro XL's performance stands out, with 3DMark's official database recording 59.4% stability for the Galaxy S25 Ultra in comparison. That figure goes up to 68.9% on the OnePlus 13—still quite a distance from the Pixel 10 Pro XL. While 3DMark has no official benchmark data for the Pixel 9 Pro XL, the last-gen phone has shown 63.8% stability on this test in the past, potentially indicating a tangible benefit offered by the switch to a TSMC node for the Tensor G5.

So what do these numbers mean for the average power user? Well, not much, as they only indicate that the Pixel 10 Pro XL doesn't throttle hard. The actual benchmark results remain unimpressive. For some perspective, the Galaxy S25 Ultra scores 3,628 on this test even at its throttled worst, but that remains about 10% higher than the Pixel 10 Pro XL's peak score of 3,252.
