Less than a week has passed since Vivo teased two of the camera hardware upgrades it has planned for its initial X300 series smartphones. To recap, the company confirmed during a launch event that it had partnered with Sony again to use its new LYT-828 camera sensor inside future flagships.
Moreover, Vivo hinted that it would be complementing its VS1 and V3+ in-house chips with a mystery 200 MP sensor from Samsung. Rather than those found in the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy S25 Ultra or Galaxy S25 Edge (cur. $969 on Amazon), it seems that Vivo intends to use this new sensor for telephoto purposes instead. According to Yogesh Brar, Vivo will be officially announcing the Vivo X300 series in October.
As the leaker emphasises, this launch will be limited to China. However, Brar believes that an Indian launch will follow by early December, similar to the X Fold5 this summer. As it stands, Vivo is expected to deliver the X300 and X300 Pro simultaneously, each sporting MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 chipset. Given that MediaTek is rumoured to have scheduled a Dimensity 9500 launch event for late September, we would not be surprised if Oppo got the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro powered by the same silicon out the door sooner than Vivo and its X300 pair.
