Affordable smartphones are a good thing, as they people on a tight budget have access to communication or can help save money in serving as a second phone. But what if you want to take photos with these budget smartphones?
For example, the camera on the Samsung Galaxy A06 delivers solid results in this very affordable price range, but you have to expect certain limitations: there is only one lens that can actually take photos and no other focal lengths. When preparing to take a photo, you often have to move closer or away from the subject if you want a different view.
A 50 MP main camera on the Galaxy A06 sounds good at first, but the megapixel count says little about the quality. In daylight, the camera delivers acceptable images with sufficient detail and decent colors.
We also quite liked the 8 MP front camera, which takes perfectly acceptable selfies. However, the quality deteriorates rapidly in less-than-ideal lighting conditions. The main camera's weaknesses also become apparent in poor lighting conditions: noise and blur increase, and colors often appear faded. The autofocus is rather slow and inaccurate when shooting moving subjects, which can result in blurry images.
For the price, you can't expect miracles from a smartphone like the Galaxy A06, especially when it comes to the selection of different focal lengths. If you're looking for a high-quality camera for professional images or more demanding photo and video recordings, you should opt for a model in the mid-range or higher price category.
However, if you don't have much money to spend and usually take photos in good lighting conditions anyway, you can now take decent pictures with a very inexpensive phone.
