The latest news from the camera rumour mill suggests that DJI, the drone, action camera, and e-bike company, will soon launch a compact mirrorless camera with a full-frame sensor and a rangefinder-style design.

Rumours and leaks about a potential new mirrorless camera from DJI have been floating around since the action camera maker acquired Hasselblad, but new rumours suggest that the DJI full-frame camera may be coming as soon as September 15. These rumours come by way of Andrea Pizzini, who has a solid reputation for his frequent Sony and Micro Four-Thirds leaks and rumours, however he has included the caveat that these new rumours are not entirely concrete. DJI itself has teased that there is a “mysterious” new product coming soon — and this was after DJI had already announced the Avinox e-bike platform

What we know about the DJI full frame camera

Aside from the newly rumoured launch tip, previous rumours about the DJI full-frame mirrorless camera hinted at a boxy design — almost a rangefinder-style body — similar to the Sony FX-3. The body is meant to be slightly bigger than the FX-3, so it won't be quite as small as something like the Panasonic Lumix S9 (curr. $1,197.99 on Amazon), although it will be more photography-oriented than both the FX-3 and the S9, thanks to an electronic viewfinder, which will supposedly be in the top left corner of the camera.

So far, the exact specifications are unknown at the time of writing, but previous rumours and the latest leak claim that the DJI full-frame camera will feature tech from Hasselblad, meaning Hasselblad colour science, and an L-Mount. Apparently, DJI is even being secretive about the full-frame camera internally, so the source could not reveal any hard specifications, but DJI already has the tech from the Ronin 4D 8K camera, which is a full-frame cinema camera with a 44 MP sensor, which would be easy enough to adapt. It could just as easily use the 24 MP sensor from the original 6K DJI Ronin 4D camera.

This would put it squarely against cameras like the Nikon Z f and Canon EOS R1, which are both tough competition, although there is no word on whether the DJI full-frame camera will feature IBIS, although it would be remiss for a flagship mirrorless to launch in 2025 without IBIS.
