Some Google Pixels have been suffering from a fatal bug since March.
Since the March update, many users of Google Pixel smartphones have been complaining about a bug that causes a bootloop, which can render smartphones practically unusable. Even after more than three months, the problem has still not been resolved, but Google is now offering possible solutions.

As we reported over two months ago, since the March update was released, more and more users of the Google Pixel 6 up to the Pixel 10 ($599 on Amazon) have been complaining about an error that causes the smartphone to restart repeatedly. Affected Google Pixels either only display the Google logo or the boot screen, or crash after the pin code has been entered.

The May update was supposed to provide a remedy, but this did not work for all users. Another problem is that some affected smartphones cannot even boot in recovery mode, so there is no way to install the update in the first place. In the Google Issue Tracker over 800 comments from affected customers have now been published. Google has now informed customers by email that the error has been under investigation since March and that the company has now compiled a guide showing the steps that can be taken to fix the problem under certain circumstances.

Instead of simply publishing these instructions on a website, affected customers should contact Google support to receive information on the solution. The reason for this is that the next steps depend on how exactly the error manifests itself on the respective smartphone – there is still no blanket solution for all affected smartphones. Anyone affected by this problem apparently has no choice but to contact Google support. It is important not to install the beta version of Android 17, as this can lead to further problems according to several user reports.
