The Google Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro have been plagued by an issue since their launch that renders the display temporarily unusable. This display error was supposed to be fixed with the October update, which Google has been rolling out to the Pixel 10 series since last week, but this patch introduces a new problem, as many user reports on Reddit reveal.
Affected users report that after the update, all apps either freeze on startup or crash shortly after startup. The problem appears to primarily affect the Pixel 10 Pro and the Pixel 10 Pro XL, but some users of the base model are also complaining of crashes. Restarting the smartphone does not appear to resolve the issue. One user claims to have found a temporary solution – deleting the October updates for Google Play Services and the Google Play Store is said to fix the crashing issue.
However, this also logs users out of their Google account, so you should make sure that a passkey has been saved on a backup device to enable re-login. At least one user reports that clearing the cache of Google Play services in the system settings under Apps → Google Play Services was enough to quickly fix the error, at least on some devices. Google has not yet officially commented on this issue. Anyone who hasn't yet installed the October update should wait until Google resolves this new issue.
