Samsung has officially kicked off the stable rollout of One UI 8, based on Android 16, to two mid-range smartphones: the rugged Galaxy XCover7 and the popular Galaxy M54. This comes as somewhat of a surprise, as this update would bring flagship-grade features to devices outside the premium tier before some 2025 flagships receive the update.
The One UI 8 stable update for the Galaxy XCover7 arrives with firmware version G556BXXUBDYIA and has begun rolling out across multiple regions, including Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, New Zealand, and Malaysia. Meanwhile, the Galaxy M54 receives the update through firmware version M546BXXU9EYI4, reaching users in Thailand, Vietnam, New Zealand, Myanmar, and Malaysia.
Users who haven't received the One UI 8 notification can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Samsung recommends connecting to a stable Wi-Fi network before initiating the download due to the update's substantial file size.
The company expects to complete the One UI 8 rollout for eligible devices before launching the One UI 8.5 beta program, which is reportedly scheduled for late November 2025.
Issues and recommended solutions
Some users have reported potential internet connectivity problems following the One UI 8 installation on various Samsung devices. Common issues include intermittent Wi-Fi disconnections, slower data speeds, and problems maintaining stable network connections.
Samsung and community experts recommend several troubleshooting steps for affected users. The primary solution involves resetting network settings through Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Additional fixes include clearing the system cache partition, restarting the device, and toggling airplane mode.
For persistent issues, users can perform a complete Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings reset, though this requires re-entering saved network passwords and re-pairing Bluetooth devices.
