Huawei Mate X8 could beat Galaxy Z Fold 8 in display size

Huawei is working on multiple flagship devices for later this year. Two of them will be foldables and a successor to the Mate X7 is expected to be one of them. Latest information suggests that the foldable will come with an even larger display than its predecessor, and also the upcoming Samsung competitor, the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
According to well-known leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Huawei is working on a standard aspect ratio foldable that will feature an 8.15-inch main display and a 6.5-inch cover display. For reference, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (buy on Amazon) features an 8-inch main display and a 6.5-inch cover display. The same size and dimensions are expected for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 said to to launch in July. Granted, it is a minor increase in display size but it would be interesting to see if Huawei has managed to keep the overall size the same as the predecessor by slimming down the bezels.

Furthermore, the leaker mentions that the Huawei Mate X8 will be powered by an “Nth generation flagship chip” which will likely be the Kirin 9040 Pro, successor to the Kirin 9030 Pro from the Mate X7. The upcoming foldable is said to feature a 50 MP 1/1.3 inch large sensor for the main camera. That’s about all the information shared by the leaker.
It should be noted that these are early rumors and the final product may not have these exact specifications. Huawei has not shared any information yet about its next foldable. The company is also expected to launch a successor to its trifold, the Huawei Mate XT 2, or whatever it ends up being called.
