Huawei’s Watch GT Runner 2 goes official with Intelligent Marathon Mode, ECG and HRV tracking, a titanium case, and battery life claims of up to 14 days if in light use.

Huawei has officially launched the Watch GT Runner 2 in markets like Germany, a smartwatch built more for dedicated runners than general smartwatch buyers with marketing centered around ultra-precision positioning, Intelligent Marathon Mode, health tracking, and broad Android and iOS compatibility.

That official debut lines up with what an earlier Notebookcheck report had outlined before launch. The pre-release report pointed to ECG, HRV tracking, a titanium build, AirDry straps, and up to 14 days of battery life, and Huawei’s product page now lists ECG, HRV, an aerospace-grade titanium case, an AirDry woven strap, and up to 14 days in light use. NFC is onboard as well.

The product costs 349 pounds in the UK, which converts to around $466. In Russia, it will sell for ~420 dollars, claims TehnoObzor. Like all recent Huawei products, the watch is unlikely to make it to the US through official sales channels.

Huawei is aiming the Watch GT Runner 2 squarely at runners

Huawei is not treating the Watch GT Runner 2 as just another wellness wearable. On the official page, the company highlights an "industry-leading 3D GPS floating antenna" for more accurate distance, pace, and route tracking, plus Intelligent Marathon Mode with smart training plans and event guidance. Huawei also says the watch was developed with the DSM-Firmenich Running Team and calibrated using elite runners’ training expertise.

That running-first approach extends beyond the usual pace and heart-rate basics. Huawei says the watch includes an Event Assistant for following major marathons, customized scientific training plans, lactate-threshold tracking, running power, performance prediction, and an on-wrist pacing view that shows whether the wearer is ahead of or behind target. The company also advertises personalized fuelling reminders and post-run training analysis aimed at helping runners plan, execute, and review races more closely from the wrist.

The hardware looks like a premium step up from the original GT Runner

On hardware, Huawei says the Watch GT Runner 2 uses an ultra-slim nanomolded titanium alloy case, 2nd Gen Kunlun Glass, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits on the 466 by 466 pixels resolution display for better outdoor visibility. The company lists the body at 34.5 g and 10.7 mm thick, paired with a 9 g AirDry woven strap apparently designed to improve breathability by 25%. Huawei also includes a second fluoroelastomer strap in the box.

Huawei further claims 20% more accurate positioning than the Watch GT Runner, along with up to 32 hours of outdoor workouts with precise positioning enabled, up to 7 days in typical use, and up to 14 days in light use. Those battery claims broadly match the earlier leaked details reported by Notebookcheck before launch.

Health features go beyond basic fitness tracking

Huawei is also giving the Watch GT Runner 2 a more advanced health stack than a pure running watch might imply. The company says the wearable supports ECG readings, HRV monitoring, pulse wave arrhythmia analysis, sleep breathing awareness, blood oxygen tracking, and high-altitude adaptation alerts. Huawei says the upgraded NPU and algorithms are meant to provide better recovery insights and help users manage workout intensity.
