Tissot quietly launches new automatic watch under $1,000

Tissot has quietly refreshed its Visodate classic watch, bringing massive upgrades from an entirely new look and case to dial, movement, and bracelet. To recall, the Swiss brand introduced the Visodate in 1954 with a date window. Speaking of design elements, the Visodate now comes with a 39 mm case complemented by a fixed polished bezel, ditching its previous generation's 40 mm design.
Tissot has also completely revamped the dial design of the Visodate, featuring a flat center with vertical brushing and a sloped outer portion finished in circular brushing. The new dial of the watch looks much cleaner and more balanced compared to the previous generation. It is adorned with hour, minute, and second hands, a printed 60-minute ruler-style track, and Super Lumi-Nova-coated hour markers. Plus, there’s a domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal on top with antireflective coating.
Inside, the Tissot Visodate has an all-new Swatch Group’s Powermatic 80 automatic movement, which is said to offer up to 80 hours of power reserve. It is rated at 5 bar (50 m) water resistance. Another significant upgrade is a stainless steel beads-of-rice bracelet, which is paired with black and blue dial color options. On top of this, there’s a silver dial with gold-toned hands and indices, which is coupled with an embossed brown leather pin buckle strap.
As for price, the Tissot Visodate is now available for purchase via Tissot’s official website for $950 on a steel bracelet and $850 on a leather strap.
