Citizen brings its 39mm Series 8 automatic watch with Caliber 9051 to the US
In February, Citizen refreshed its Series 8 mechanical watch lineup with four new models featuring slimmer 39mm cases. Initially restricted to the Japanese market, the company is now releasing at least one model from the new lineup to the US: the gold-tone NB6085-57W.
The NB6085-57W arrives shortly after Citizen US unveiled the NB6060-07A, a more sport-oriented variant within the Series 8 featuring an inner rotating bezel and a polyurethane strap. The new gold-tone NB6085-57W takes a more traditional approach, pairing a stainless steel case with two-tone finishing and an integrated bracelet.
It sports a slimmer 39mm octagonal case with yellow gold-tone surfaces and rose gold-tone accents. The dual-tone design also extends to the bracelet, which uses brushed outer links and polished center links.
Meanwhile, the dial incorporates a textured geometric pattern inspired by the traditional Japanese ichimatsu (checkered) and features a gold-tone base, rose-gold indices and hands, and a date window at 3 o’clock. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the dial, while the exhibition caseback lets you see Citizen's in-house movement at work. The watch measures approximately 10.4mm thick and weighs 147 grams with the bracelet.
Like other Series 8 models, the NB6085-57W is powered by Citizen’s Caliber 9051 automatic movement, which operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. Citizen claims 9051 delivers a higher level of performance and reliability compared to its standard mechanical movements and is rated for accuracy between +20 and -10 seconds per day. It also includes magnetic resistance up to 16,000 A/m.
The Citizen Series 8 NB6085-57W is priced at $1,295 in the US and is available for purchase directly from Citizen's online store and select authorized retailers.
