Multiple Garmin smartwatches get full WhatsApp support with new release

Garmin has announced that Meta has added a new WhatsApp to the Connect IQ store. Please note that the app is only available on selected smartwatches. Specifically, the list of compatible smartwatches is as follows:
- D2 Air X15
- Enduro 3
- Fenix E
- Fenix 8
- Fenix 8 Solar
- Fenix 8 Pro
- Quatix 8
- Quatix 8 Pro
- Forerunner 570
- Forerunner 970
- Tactix 8
- Venu 4
- Venu X1
- Vivoactive 6
Hence, older high-end smartwatches like the Enduro 2 or Fenix 7 generation have missed the cut. Likewise, even the Forerunner 165 is incompatible despite not being directly replaced yet. The Enduro 3, Instinct 3, Instinct E and Instinct Crossover AMOLED (curr. $609 on Amazon) are not listed under the app's compatible devices, either.
Setting that aside, the WhatsApp app can show up to 10 recent messages without needing to pick up your paired smartphone. Not only can one send emojis and reactions to messages, but one can also reply to messages using Garmin's built-in keyboard. Garmin does not mention voice dictation support, though.
Also, Garmin indicates that one only has the option to decline incoming calls on a compatible smartwatch rather than having the option to answer them too. The app pulls data from a paired Android or iOS device as well. As a result, the WhatsApp app will not work when your smartwatch and smartphone are out of range. The WhatsApp app can be downloaded now from the Connect IQ store.
