Garmin Connect opens up slightly for improved workout management

Garmin Connect is a platform that helps users of multiple wearables aggregate their workout data. In addition to a web interface and an app, it offers integration with third-party platforms. For example, you can track your food intake using MyFitnessPal and then sync the data with Garmin Connect. Combined with activity data recorded by Garmin Connect, this lets you determine whether you are in a calorie deficit or surplus.
While Garmin Connect isn’t fully open, the company has announced and implemented several measures to open up the platform for data sharing. According to a recent report by the5krunner, its data-sync capabilities have been further expanded. Although the two platforms have been able to link up since late 2025, synchronisation has been limited to one direction, with activity data flowing only from Garmin Connect to the Peloton ecosystem but not the other way around. Without two-way sync, Garmin Connect can’t factor Peloton workouts into training-intensity calculations, which is naturally suboptimal for training management.
This has now changed: Peloton training sessions can be incorporated by Garmin Connect into various analyses, such as recovery-time estimates. While this new feature enables two-way sync for several data types – such as duration, intensity, cycling cadence and heart rate – certain metrics are still not supported.
