Garmin Approach G82: GPS handheld with radar launch monitor & touchscreen

Garmin offers a broad range of products, including smartwatches for golfers, and also offers other systems designed to provide golfers with the best possible support. The Approach G82, which has been on the market for some time, is a handheld GPS device combined with a golf launch monitor. It can be used as a navigation tool, with preloaded maps of more than 43,000 golf courses worldwide, helping golfers assess distances on unfamiliar courses. On the driving range, users can calibrate their own shots to see how far they typically hit with each club. The virtual caddie then recommends a suitable club based on this data. Elevation profile, trajectory, and wind are taken into account.
An integrated launch monitor provides immediate feedback on parameters such as clubhead speed, ball speed, and swing tempo, offering valuable insights for improving performance. The system also includes putting metrics.
Garmin claims a battery life of up to 25 hours in GPS mode and up to 8 hours in radar mode. The IPX7-rated device features a 5‑inch color touchscreen with a resolution of 480 × 800 pixels. It can connect to a compatible smartphone and Garmin's Approach CT10 golf sensors, among others. The Approach G82 retails for around $600.
