Garmin releases new smartwatch update with workout related bug fix

The Garmin Instinct 3 Solar, Instinct 3 AMOLED, Instinct E and Instinct Crossover smartwatches are receiving a new stable update. System software 13.29 arrives just a week or so after the last release, system software 13.27/13.28; the earlier update fixed issues linked to the Goal Alert function and Gear Tracking.
As with beta version 13.29, this stable release resolves a problem which could cause the Instinct 3 and related smartwatches to crash. The bug appeared to affect users of the wearable’s Interval Workouts.
It remains to be seen whether or not system software 13.29 closes out the 13.xx update cycle. The first stable release in this series landed in mid-February 2026. It brought a range of changes to these Instinct smartwatches, including a Treadmill Walk activity, support for Trucking tools and fresh customization options for the popular Morning Report feature.
In a recent Garmin Forum post, a representative for the company confirmed that System Software 13.29 was now available for all users of the Instinct 3 Solar, Instinct 3 AMOLED (45 mm curr. $449.99 at Amazon), Instinct E and Instinct Crossover smartwatches. This update can be installed via the Garmin Connect app or the Garmin Express software.
