Garmin brings more data field options to wearables in new update

Garmin is rolling out a new update for the Descent X30: system software 3.06. The last release for this scuba diving computer arrived in November 2025, bringing new data fields to the technical category and improved Dive Log stability.
The release notes for Garmin Descent X30 system software 3.06 state that it allows users to add Essential data fields, such as current depth, NDL time, and stop depth, to their custom dive screen. There are two changes related to weather and tide information. Firstly, you can now add a custom name for these locations. Secondly, the behaviour of these functions when the wearable is not connected to your phone is said to have been improved.
On top of this, the latest Descent X30 update enables users to add a new waypoint through the Waypoint Manager app. The data field order of NDL-Aware depth metrics now matches the order used on the Dynamic Depth page. Plus, Garmin has resolved issues linked to pool mode, the Dive Log and the passcode security tool.
The Garmin Descent X30 dive computer (curr. $749.99 at Amazon) can be updated in several ways. The device will automatically check for updates when connected to the Garmin Dive app or the Garmin Express software. Alternatively, users can manually check for updates on the wearable by going to PREV > Settings > System > Check for Updates.
