Casio is no stranger to rolling out intriguing limited edition collaboration watches. The Japanese watchmaker routinely collaborates with a diverse range of artists, designers, and brands to bring us watches with bold aesthetics and unusual dials. But every now and then, these partnerships produce something that truly stands apart. The company’s latest collaboration with renowned American artist Joshua Vides is the perfect example of that.
After teasing the project on Instagram over the past few days, Casio and Joshua Vides have officially revealed two spectacular limited-edition G-Shock watches: DW5600JV-7 and DW6900JV-1, featuring Vides’ signature comic-book style, monochromatic black-and-white palette.
Bringing his distinct “Reality to Idea” concept directly to the wrist, Vides transforms two of G-Shock’s most iconic silhouettes into wearable works of art. According to Casio, timepieces effortlessly evoke the illusion of a two-dimensional sketch brought to life in three dimensions using advanced multi-angle printing techniques.
The DW-5600JV-7 features a crisp, glossy white base contrasted with bold black graphics. This model emphasizes the hand-drawn feel, creating a striking presence that looks like wet ink on paper. On the other hand, the DW-6900JV-1 features a stealthy matte-black finish with sharp white stripes. Both timepieces boast handwritten function labels around the dial, custom-engraved case backs bearing the artist's iconic signature, and highly collectible custom packaging. When the LED backlight is activated, Vides’ trademark traffic cone motif lights up the display.
Beneath the striking exterior, both models retain G-Shock’s legendary toughness, featuring shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, a multi-function alarm, a 1/100-second stopwatch, and a countdown timer.
