Casio: First look at new upcoming G-Shock GW-BX5600 MIP LCD watch with gray case and blue strap

A new version of the Casio GW‑BX5600 may be on the way, as covered in previous reports. It will join the recently introduced square G-Shock lineup that uses a memory-in-pixel display. Now, a leaked image shared by the Instagram account morgan_gshock appears to reveal the previously unseen Casio variant with the reference number GW‑BX5600CB‑2JR.
The image shows a square G-Shock with the same general layout as the existing GW-BX5600 models, but with a different design. Instead of the standard resin strap used on earlier versions, this model appears to use a blue fabric or textile strap alongside a matte gray resin case. However, owing to the low pixel density of the leaked image, this info specifically should be taken with a grain of salt.
The display area looks the same, which means that the watch still uses the high-contrast MIP LCD panel that was a big hit with the GW-BX5600 series. The screen layout in the leak shows a large central time readout with smaller indicators above and below, similar to the existing models that offer multiple display modes. The dial markings show Multiband 6 radio control, Bluetooth connectivity, and Tough Solar charging, which are key features of the series. Like other models in the line, the watch is expected to support world time, alarms, stopwatch functions and 200 m water resistance.
Older leaks also stated that Casio was release this third GW-BX5600 variant in April 2026. The currently available versions include the Casio GW‑BX5600‑1 with a positive display and the Casio GW‑BX5600‑1A1 with a negative display. The use of a fabric strap is hinting at a design transition for the brand, since it recently launched three other textile-based G-Shock squares. Textile straps are less common on standard square G-Shocks, and it's nice to see that Casio is experimenting with a slightly more casual variation of the already popular GW-BX5600 platform.
Because the image carries a watermark and originates from social media, the details should still be treated as a leak rather than an official confirmation. However, An April launch looks to be highly plausible, considering the leaker's track history.
