New Citizen Tsuyosa limited-edition automatic watch shines in fresh hands-on images after launch

Citizen’s new limited-edition Tsuyosa collaboration with seconde/seconde/ has an extremely polarizing design, to say the least. Fans either love it or hate it. Now, the watch is appearing in fresh hands-on images - thanks to these, we have an early look at the details first revealed at launch. If you're looking to get your hands on one, it would be fair to say that the watch’s visual concept translates quite well from studio renders to real-world wear.
The watch has a bright blue sunray dial, which catches light nicely in natural conditions. The brushing radiates outward from the pinion and changes from a bright electric blue to a deeper tone depending on angle. In the wrist shots, the dial comes off as more saturated than in promotional material.
The pixel-art katana minute hand, however, is the showrunner here. In the hands-on images, its stepped, block-like 8-bit texture is pretty pronounced. As previously described, several hour markers appear visually "cut" where the sword passes through, and this illusion does hold up under close inspection. The standard hour and seconds hands keep a clean, conventional shape, and it was clear that the companies wanted the katana to be the focal point.
The Reddit user has also uploaded images of the bracelet clasp, which shows engraved "cut" marks along with both the Citizen logo and seconde/seconde/ branding. The finishing appears mostly brushed, with polished center links on the integrated three-link bracelet for contrast's sake. On-wrist shots vaguely suggest that the 40 mm stainless-steel case is in line with Tsuyosa’s compact, approachable proportions.
The exhibition caseback is also shown in detail. The automatic Caliber 8210 is visible beneath a unique printed message that reads, "Being smaller has never stopped Minutes from slicing Hours into pieces." The watch has sapphire crystal, 5 bar water resistance, and stainless steel construction.
