Citizen Hong Kong has released the "Tsuyosa Shore" series (NJ023x), which updates the integrated-bracelet line with functional timing bezels. The 40 mm models feature the hacking Caliber 8210, sapphire crystals, and 100m water resistance.

The new launch is seemingly moving the collection away from its purely "sports-elegant" design toward a more utilitarian "desk diver" aesthetic. Citizen has addressed a common consumer critique regarding the lack of tactile utility in the standard NJ015 line by integrating a unidirectional rotating bezel. However, this increases the case thickness to 12.5 mm, as compared to the slimmer 11.7 mm profile of previous iterations. The series debuts with four references: the navy NJ0230-59L, blue-green NJ0231-56L, gold-plated green NJ0232-53X, and a two-tone red NJ0234-58X.

The series is powered by the in-house Caliber 8210. While the 8210 is a legacy workhorse movement, these specific references confirm the inclusion of a hacking (stop-second) function, and interestingly, this feature was inconsistently applied in early Tsuyosa production runs. The movement operates at a 3 Hz frequency with a 42-hour power reserve. From a merely technical perspective, the -20/+40 seconds per day accuracy tolerance is still standard for this price bracket. However, real-world performance usually settles into tighter margins. The movement is visible via a mineral glass exhibition back, where you can see an industrial, rhodium-plated finish.

While the 100 m water resistance is more than sufficient for surface swimming, the lack of a screw-down crown and a certified ISO rating prevents the NJ023 series from being categorized as a professional diving tool. The integrated uses solid links and a hidden butterfly clasp. The absence of micro-adjustment holes on this specific clasp design could present fitment challenges for users between link sizes. Despite these trade-offs, the Shore series will still get buyers a higher specification-to-price ratio than many entry-level Swiss competitors, especially thanks to the anti-reflective sapphire glass.

Pricing and precise availability for these models is undisclosed as of writing.
