Casio S100X The Special One launches as limited edition flagship calculator

While Casio regularly launches special editions of digital watches, these are rather rare for calculators. Casio aptly calls the S100X-JC1-U "The Special One", as this unusual pocket calculator is limited to just 650 pieces worldwide. Casio manufactures the housing from aluminum.
The finish is lacquered by hand using a traditional Japanese craftsmanship technique to create a glossy black surface with a special shine. Each individual key and the front are framed with a red accent color. The buttons are labeled in gold. The display shows navy blue digits on an almost white background to achieve the highest possible contrast - according to Casio, the FSTN LCD is less reflective and has a higher contrast than most pocket calculators thanks to a double coating.
The keys are equipped with switches with a scissor mechanism, as found on many laptop keyboards. This should provide a clearly defined pressure point and even resistance, regardless of whether they are pressed in the middle or at a corner. Three-key rollover should not overload the calculator, even with very fast inputs. The Casio S100X weighs 275 grams and uses a CR2025 battery ($2.99 for a 12-pack on Amazon), which should provide a battery life of seven years with one hour of use per day.
