Samsung launches new entry-level smartphone with 6,000 mAh battery and 6 years of updates

Samsung has unveiled a new entry-level smartphone in its M-series portfolio, the Galaxy M17e, in the Indian market. Despite coming at an affordable price, the company’s new handset comes with an interesting set of features. Speaking more precisely, the Galaxy M17e is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset paired with up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage with room for storage expansion up to 1 TB via a microSD card slot.
As for software, the device runs Android 16-based One UI 8.0 out of the box, and Samsung promises 6 years of major Android OS upgrades (up to Android 22) and security patches until 2032. This is similar to Xiaomi’s recently launched Xiaomi 17 Ultra camera smartphone. This time around, Samsung packs an LCD display into the Galaxy M17e that delivers an HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.
Dimensionally, the smartphone measures 8.2 mm in thickness and features IP54 water resistance. Furthermore, it comes with a dual rear camera setup, consisting of a 50 MP primary camera paired with a 2 MP depth sensor. Upfront, you get an 8 MP snapper for selfies and video chats.
The rest of the highlights of the Galaxy M17e include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, and a large 6,000 mAh battery with 25 W wired charging.
Available in Vibe Violet and Blitz Blue colorways, the Samsung Galaxy M17e 5G smartphone starts at INR 12,999 ($140) for the base 4 GB + 128 GB variant, while the 6 GB + 128 GB variant is priced at INR 14,499 ($160).
