Xiaomi launches new special edition smartphone globally

Xiaomi has returned to its Marvel collaboration to celebrate today's Poco X8 series global launch event. For context, the company has presented the Poco X8 Pro and Poco X8 Pro Max. As it stands, the Poco X7 remains without a direct successor (curr. $281 on Amazon).
Setting that aside, the new Iron Man Edition builds on the Poco X8 Pro rather than the series-topping Poco X8 Pro Max. Fundamentally, the Iron Man Edition shares the same hardware as the regular Poco X8 Pro. Thus, the former features the following specifications:
- 6.59-inch, 1.5K and 120 Hz AMOLED display
- MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.1 flash storage
- 6,500 mAh battery with 100 W charging
- 50 MP primary (IMX882), 8 MP ultra-wide & 20 MP front-facing cameras
The differences between the Poco X8 Pro and its Iron Man Edition lie in the latter's design and bundled accessories. For instance, the Iron Man Edition complements its black body with golden accents that Xiaomi insists are inspired by Stark Industries' black-and-gold armours. The special edition variant also features an Iron Man-themed UI that is unavailable on the standard Poco X8 Pro.
Similarly, Xiaomi includes various exclusive accessories to emphasise the Iron Man theme. These additions come at a cost, though. The Iron Man Edition costs $399 at launch, $100 more than the standard Poco X8 Pro. In part, this is because Xiaomi only offers the special edition variant with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Also, the Iron Man Edition misses out on a $40 Early Bird discount that the company affords the standard Poco X8 Pro.
