Tecno unveils new budget smartphone with Pixel 10-style look

Tecno has now released its latest budget-range smartphone, the Spark 50 5G, in the Indian market. The rear design of the smartphone resembles that of Google’s Pixel 10 (curr. available at $549 on Amazon), which was launched last year. Yes, you heard right. It has a horizontal pill-shaped camera island that’s made out of 6-series aluminum.
For photography, Tecno packs a single 50 MP camera with an f/1.85 aperture and an LED flash into the Spark 50 5G. This time around, Tecno ditched the Unisoc processor for its latest Spark smartphone. Instead, the device is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset coupled with up to 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Unfortunately, there’s no microSD card slot available for storage expansion.
Upfront, it has an 8 MP snapper for selfies and video chats. As for the screen, the 5G-enabled smartphone boasts a 6.78-inch display that outputs at HD+ resolution with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a peak brightness of 560 nits, and a 240 Hz touch sampling rate.
A 6,500 mAh battery powers the entire unit and supports 45 W wired charging. Software-wise, it runs Android 16-based HiOS 16 out of the box. However, there’s no word on its software support from the brand. Other features include IP64 dust and water resistance, a MIL-STD-810H certification, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, 5G connectivity, dual-band WiFi with 4x4 MIMO support, Bluetooth 5.3, and GPS.
The Tecno Spark costs INR 16,999 ($179.63) for the base 4 GB + 128 GB variant and the 6 GB + 128 GB trim is priced at INR 18,999 ($200.77). Buyers can choose from fantasy purple, ink black, mint green, and champagne gold color options. The smartphone will be available starting 3rd April via Amazon.
