The Meadow launches as an ultra-compact smartphone without web browser, social media or e-mail

The Meadow is marketed as a compact second cell phone that offers far more functions than a classic feature phone such as the Nokia 110 ($45 on Amazon), but explicitly dispenses with an app store, social networks, WhatsApp and a web browser. The manufacturer charges $10 per month to connect The Meadow to the Internet while on the move.
Neither an eSIM nor an additional mobile phone plan is required for this. The device does not forward all smartphone notifications like an Apple Watch. Instead, up to twelve contacts can be set whose messages and calls are displayed on The Meadow. Apart from this, the smartphone also comes with an Uber app, a map app for navigation, apps for playing podcasts, audio books and locally stored music, Apple Music and Spotify for streaming music, as well as notes, clock, fitness and weather apps.
In addition, a 13 megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera is available for taking snapshots. The hardware is otherwise relatively simple, as The Meadow uses a 3-inch touchscreen and only has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory. The manufacturer does not provide any information on the processor used. The battery should last for one to two days.
Prices and availability
The Meadow can now be pre-ordered at the manufacturer's website. Delivery is expected to begin in June 2026. The smartphone costs $399 when pre-ordered, the retail price is set at $449. A subscription is required for mobile internet, which costs $120 per year; the first nine months are included in the purchase price. At launch, the smartphone will only be available to customers in the USA.
